Is there a way to configure OpenVPN clients to route traffic for HTTP port 80 and HTTPS port 443 directly (i.e. not through the VPN), but through the regular default gateway the clients have. All other traffic should go through the VPN. My client is running OpenVPN on Windows and my current configuration looks like this:

In addition, the PIA application pings our gateways over port 8888. This is used to VPN port forwarding. In order to bypass the restrictive firewalls responsible for blocking a VPN’s default port (for instance, in corporate and college networks), many VPN providers often provide port forwarding to 22, 53, 80, 443 ports. The additional latency added by the VPN may still prevent online game playing (e.g. all traffic will have to go to your home, thorough VPN, and then back to the Internet). The university may have deep packet inspection firewall, or transparent proxy, on outgoing port 80 traffic, which could prevent VPN traffic on port 80. Now, the target server can be reached in exactly two ways: through TCP/IP port #80, which can be detected, and through a UDP port, which cannot. However, once the (Open)VPN "tunnel" has been established, other services on this computer become accessible.

May 09, 2016 · When using the SSL VPN functionality of the Netscaler, we connect into our internal network from a remote site, and using the same proxy settings over port 80 we can only access HTTP content. Anything over HTTPS is not accessible. PPTP VPN, which requires port 1723 opened on your firewall for both UDP/TCP. GRE 45 L2TP VPN, which requires port 1701 opened on the firewall for both UDP/TCP, and; SSTP VPN, which requires port 443 opened on the firewall for both UDP/TCP. OpenVPN UDP: 53 OpenVPN TCP: 80. You might name this "Port 80 Web" or something similar. Type or Service Type - Select the TCP option here. Inbound or Start - Type the number "80" here. Is traffic sent in the clear? Port 80 is only used for things like redirect to a port 443 session, no customer data is sent or is accessible over port 80.
